The ceremony honoured Africa’s outstanding performers of the year in a night filled with star power, glamour, and celebration.
The prestigious event brought together players, coaches, football Icons and Legends from across the continent and beyond, marking another milestone in Africa’s growing influence on the global football stage.
Hakimi Makes History After a Remarkable Year
Paris Saint-Germain’s dynamic right-back Achraf Hakimi clinched the Men’s Player of the Year award after a sensational 2025 campaign. His trophy-laden season included the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, French Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and a run to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final.
Hakimi also played a pivotal role in securing Morocco’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026. His win makes him:
- the first defender to earn the African Player of the Year accolade since Bwanga Tshimen in 1973, and
- the first Moroccan recipient since Mustapha Hadji in 1998.
Chebbak Claims Morocco’s First-Ever Women’s Player of the Year Award
Ghizlane Chebbak’s consistency for club and country throughout 2025 earned her the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award—the first Moroccan woman ever to achieve the feat.
She finished as the top scorer at the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where Morocco emerged runners-up behind Nigeria. Ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, Chebbak completed a high-profile move from AS FAR to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, joining six-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala.
Bounou and Nnadozie Claim Goalkeeper Honours
Morocco’s Yassine Bounou was named CAF Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year, adding to a standout year that included selection in the FIFA Club World Cup Best XI.
Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie secured the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award for the third consecutive year, following her brilliant performances that helped the Super Falcons win the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco.
Coaches, Young Stars, and Interclub Standouts Recognised
Cape Verde’s national team coach Bubista won CAF Men’s Coach of the Year, rewarded for leading his nation to their historic first-ever FIFA World Cup qualification for 2026. The Women’s Coach of the Year award will be announced after the conclusion of the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League Egypt 2025.
DR Congo striker Fiston Mayele earned the CAF Men’s Interclub Player of the Year award after finishing as top scorer in the CAF Champions League 2024/25, helping Pyramids secure their first continental title. The women’s interclub award will be revealed at the end of the Women’s Champions League.
Morocco’s rising star Othmane Maamma, a key figure in the country’s FIFA U-20 World Cup triumph, claimed the Men’s Young Player of the Year.
On the women’s side, Doha El Madani retained her title after powering AS FAR to domestic success and finishing top scorer at the 2025 Women’s Futsal AFCON.
National Teams and Clubs Honoured
Morocco’s U-20 team was named Men’s National Team of the Year following their FIFA U-20 World Cup victory.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons picked up Women’s National Team of the Year, earning the honour for the second year running after winning the 2024 WAFCON.
Pyramids SC were crowned CAF Men’s Club of the Year after their Champions League success, with the women’s club award to be confirmed after the Women’s Champions League.
Goal of the Year
Tanzania’s Clement Mzize took home the Goal of the Year award for his spectacular long-range strike for Young Africans against TP Mazembe—a fan-voted category.
