n this exclusive interview, Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, speaks with OGHENOVO EGODO-MICHAEL about her experience in the house, life after victory, and her big plans for the future.
How do you feel being the latest winner of Big Brother Naija?
I feel good, excited, happy, overwhelmed, and deeply grateful. There’s just this rush of emotions running through me right now. Honestly, it still feels surreal, I haven’t fully come to terms with the reality of my win. It’s such an incredible feeling, and I’m still in shock.
What conversation did you have with your mother after your win?
We didn’t talk much, but she looked at me with so much warmth and said, “You are a child that made me proud.” Those simple words meant everything to me. They carried so much love, pride, and fulfillment.
What strategies helped you clinch the grand prize?
My biggest strength was my vulnerability. I wasn’t pretending or playing a role, I was simply being myself. If people consider that a strategy, then that’s fine. I just lived my truth, and that authenticity spoke for me.
What were some of your fondest memories in the house?
Some of my best moments were when I acted silly and made everyone laugh. I also loved the diary sessions especially when Big Brother complimented me. I still remember when he admired my gele (headtie); that compliment has stuck with me ever since. The arena games, shared experiences, and moments of courage we all showed made it unforgettable.
If you hadn’t won, who would you have rooted for?
I would have rooted for Kola. He’s an amazing person, very composed, articulate, and charismatic. I would’ve also loved to see Isabella win because she’s beautiful, vulnerable, and talented. Dede too ,I really adore her.
Have you decided what to do with the prize money?
Not yet. I want to take my time and think it through. The money might look like a lot, but I intend to invest it wisely so it can grow and yield returns.
Would you return to school to complete your university education?
Probably, but I’m not entirely sure yet. However, I’m leaning toward pursuing something in business and entertainment.
You were one of the most expressive housemates. What are you bringing to the entertainment industry?
I think people already got a glimpse of what I can do especially with acting. I know I’m a good actress; even my fellow housemates often told me so.
Do you think Nollywood is ready for you?
I really hope so, because I’m ready for them! (laughs)
Are there people in the industry you’d love to work with?
Absolutely. Funke Akindele is number one on my list, she’s, my mentor. I also admire Toyin Abraham, Mo Abudu, Bimbo Ademoye, Bolaji Ogunmola, and several others whose works truly inspire me.
How did you feel knowing that some of these stars rooted for you during the show?
I was shocked! I just got my phone on Monday, and people told me about some of the celebrities who supported me. I couldn’t believe it, I still don’t know what they saw in me, but I’m so grateful.
If Big Brother calls again, would you answer?
Yes, definitely! Now that I know what it takes to live and interact with so many personalities, I’d gladly do it again.
If you had a chance to go back into the house, what would you do differently?
Honestly, nothing. I’d definitely grow in some areas, but I’d still remain true to myself.
You had tense moments with some housemates. Will you reconcile with anyone, especially Faith?
That’s not going to happen, at least not intentionally. I’ve already forgiven him, but I won’t force reconciliation. If it happens naturally, great; if not, that’s fine too.
The nickname ‘Ijoba 606’ given to you by Kulture is trending. How do you feel about it?
I was surprised! After the arena task where it came up, I thought it had faded. But when I came out and saw my fans embracing it, I was amazed.
Will you be adopting that nickname officially?
Yes, absolutely! It’s my name now, and I’m proudly owning it.
Being in the spotlight can be overwhelming. How do you plan to stay relevant?
I’m new to fame, but I’m ready to learn. I plan to seek guidance from experienced mentors who can help me navigate the industry wisely.
Do you plan to move out of Ebute Meta now that you’re famous?
Ebute Meta will always be my home. Even if I move elsewhere someday, our family house will remain, that connection will never fade.
You proudly promoted Yoruba culture in the house, even earning a strike for it. Why was that important to you?
Because I’m a proud Yoruba girl! I was simply being myself, expressing my culture freely and with pride.
What was the first thing you did after being announced as the winner?
I prayed. The moment I got off the stage, I took a moment to thank God for everything.
What was your initial reaction when your name was called as the winner?
Total shock! I didn’t see it coming at all. It was overwhelming, I was completely stunned.
You were sometimes misunderstood in the house. How did that make you feel?
It didn’t feel good, but I understood it. Many people didn’t really know me and assumed my personality was just a strategy. But it wasn’t , that was the real me.
What lesson has this Big Brother journey taught you?
It taught me that anything is possible if you truly believe.
What’s next for you in terms of love and relationships?
Right now, my focus is on God and personal growth. But moving forward, I’d love to explore acting and fashion design, especially sewing.
Now that you’re out of the house, how do you plan to level up?
By learning from people who’ve been in the game longer than I have. I’m open to mentorship, advice, and new experiences.
How did you manage your sexual desires in the house?
I don’t want to talk about that. (laughs)
What kind of roles would you love to take on as an actress?
I see myself as a versatile person. Whatever role I’m given, I’ll deliver. I just hope I’m not boxed into one kind of character. I want to explore everything.
Finally, what message do you have for your fans?
To my amazing fans, thank you for believing in me and voting for me. You made this dream come true, and I’ll make sure to make you proud every single day.
