Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has expressed disappointment over not receiving enough recognition for her impact and contributions to the music industry.
According to reports, the award-winning singer widely celebrated as the Queen of Afrobeats made the revelation during a recent episode of the Offair Show hosted by Gbemi and Toolz.
When Toolz asked if she felt she had received her flowers from the industry, Tiwa replied:
“No. I’m sorry, I don’t.”
In the same interview, Tiwa Savage also shared an interesting story about her initial reaction to the hit song Dorobucci. She revealed that when Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy first played the unfinished track for her in a hotel during her wedding trip to Dubai, she didn’t think much of it.
“Don’t know if people know this, but Dorobucci ,I had Don Jazzy playing that in the hotel when we were in Dubai for my wedding, and I didn’t want to tell him, but I thought it was such a crap song,” she admitted in an interview with NotJustOk.
However, she said she was amazed when she later heard the completed version of the song and realized how much it had transformed.
Tiwa also recalled having a similar experience with her hit single Eminado, which she initially doubted would succeed but later became one of her standout tracks.
